As Executive Chef of Bowman’s Tavern, Rich Christiansen relies on the seasonal local ingredients of the area for inspiration when conceptualizing his menus. Born and raised in Los Angeles, California, Rich developed a passion for cooking through his family, working for his father in the kitchen of their family’s Italian restaurant in Bel Air. He spent years as a Sous Chef and then moved up to Head Chef feeding neighborhood families, friends and local celebrities.

Rich went on to hone his skills after that, working for a fine dining seafood restaurant in New Jersey and eventually for Mr. Seattle himself, Tom Douglas. It was a life changing experience to be Sous Chef of Etta’s located in the world famous Pike Place Market.

Moving home to be closer to family and friends, Rich dreamed of finding a local restaurant with the same family values as his own. He met owner James Seward and discussed the incredible opportunity to become Executive Chef, allowing him to pursue his dreams and create a welcoming family atmosphere.

Teaming up with a plethora of local farms in the area, Rich allows the ingredients to speak for themselves and deliver a comforting experience. Like the chefs that proceeded him, he is an avid believer in the mantra that quality ingredients will yield superior products.

Outside of the kitchen, Rich is a hands on father and husband and enjoys spending time delving into his son’s creative endeavors. He resides in Yardley Borough with his wife, son, and dog, Moose.
